About

The SEMIS Coalition was formed in 2008 and is a regional hub of the Great Lakes Stewardship Initiative. The coalition focuses on supporting schools, teachers, community partner organizations, and grassroots community groups in enacting place-based education. They support bridging classroom learnign to the community so that, in partnershp with others, students can solve real-world problems and create positive change. Annual offerings to support their work include a teacher summer institute and a community forum where students share their work in a conference setting.
