EMU STEM Ed Institute Awarded $15,000 General Motors Community Impact Grant

GM Romulus Propulsion Systems drives local STEAM growth with a $40,000 community impact grant to local nonprofits

ROMULUS, Michigan – Today, on behalf of GM Corporate Giving, GM Romulus Propulsion Systems presented the latest installment of its Community Impact Grants (CIG) to local Romulus area organizations. The $40,000 grant this year targeted three local nonprofits aimed at supporting STEAM education.

Through the CIG program, GM facility leaders selected local nonprofits working to address issues facing their community.

“Our Community Impact Grants play a vital role in empowering local nonprofits that truly make a difference in the neighborhoods where our teams live and work,” said Mark Dickman, plant director at GM Romulus Propulsion Systems. “Witnessing the positive changes brought about by these grants and the remarkable efforts of nonprofits in our community underscores just how essential this support is for building a thriving, connected community.”

The 2025 Romulus-area nonprofit recipients include:
 Big Brothers / Big Sisters of Southeast Michigan
 EMU Institute for STEM Education, Outreach, and Workforce Development
 Washtenaw Community College – Skilled Trades Program

This is the 15 th year of the CIG program, providing financial support to nonprofits across its U.S. manufacturing communities. As an organization, GM is committed to investing in the future of American manufacturing, in our workforce and in our communities. “We are truly grateful for the strong partnerships and meaningful relationships within our community that make programs like this possible. By working together, we are able to build a brighter, more resilient Romulus,” Dickman emphasized.
